Join us on Friday, September 7th at 7:00 pm for a special program, “Galls of the Oak Grove – a Walk and Talk” presented by Dr. Kathy Schick. Find out what galls are, what types are found on different plants, and how they are created by insects. Dr. Schick will lead a brief walk through the oaks around the Nature Center followed by a slide presentation. Program is free and open to the public. | Description |
For September’s show we wanted to get out of town and revisit two of the most beautiful landscapes in Northern California, Yosemite and Tahoe. The word “majestic” comes to mind when thinking of these two places; thundering waterfalls, sky blue lake views, pines forests, star-filled skies, and tranquility. One of the first groups to paint together on location were Charles Muench, Kathleen Dunphy, and Charles Waldman, who visited Yosemite and enjoy a wet plein air session at the base of Yosemite Falls this spring. “The study for this work,” explains Nevada artist Charles Muench, “was created while painting in Yosemite with my friends Charles Waldman and Kathleen Dunphy. We stood at the base of the lower Yosemite falls and painted away until the spring mist from the Sierra snowmelt chilled our bones. Fun memories and an inspiring experience!”
